About the Publisher
The Editor and Publisher of The Texas Pilgrim is James M. Windham, who founded the publication in April 2000 as a vehicle for commentary on current events, public policy, and culture.
Believing that ideas have consequences, his objective is to engage readers in a dialogue on the critical issues of our time and the ideas that drive public policy and popular culture in America.
Originally from Livingston, Texas, Jim graduated from The University of Texas in 1965, and has lived in Houston since 1967. His professional career has included serving as CEO of a major commercial bank and founding and managing a corporate finance advisory firm. He has been very active in political and civic leaderhip on a local and statewide basis for many years and currently serves as Chairman of the Texas Institute for Education Reform, a statewide non-profit entity engaged in policy advocacy for the advancement of K-12 standards and accountability. He and wife, Lela, a native Houstonian, have been married since 1969, and they have two grown daughters.
